One of the most common hurdles to utilizing simulation is the presence of good models. The Spreadsheet Modeling Techniques for Business course is for individuals who want to begin creating useful models that can actually be used for real world needs.
The course will expose the attendee to some fundamental MS Excel models that are often very useful for simulating business / financial / operational processes and projects on a spreadsheet. These models include: Optimization (Excel Goal Seek, Excel Solver, Crystal Ball Optquest) Queueing Decision Trees (Stochastic & Deterministic) Classification and Regression Scheduling / Critical Path Modeling (Stochastic & Deterministic.)
During the course of the training we familiarize trainees with often-used Excel functions (e.g. IF, FIND), how to use circular references, array formulae, data tables, and other practices which will help them become skilled Excel modelers. We also talk briefly about form and structure for maximizing the readability and flexibility of spreadsheet models.
Advanced preparation includes:
- Working knowledge of Excel
- Working knowledge of Windows
